⛩ The Thousand Birds technique was created by Kakashi Hatake after he failed to apply his lightning nature to the Spiraling Sphere. He wanted the Thousand Birds to be a weapon used solely to protect his friends and loved ones.
To execute it, the user must first gather lightning in their hand; the high concentration of electricity produces a sound reminiscent of many birds singing, hence its name. The lightning chakra was shown to sometimes cause damage to the user’s hand, peeling the skin and making it slightly burning, but this does not seem to be truly debilitating.
Once the chakra is gathered, the user charges at the target and thrusts the Thousand Birds, piercing them and generally causing fatal damage. Despite the noise it makes, the speed at which it is used makes it useful for assassinations.
As shown against Killer B, the Thousand Birds technique can also be used to simply send an electric discharge without impaling.
Kakashi stated that he created this technique because he was unable to combine the form transformation of the Rasengan and the lightning chakra nature.
