⛩ Gaara is a ninja from the Hidden Sand Village (Suna). He is the youngest child of the Fourth Kazekage, and the younger brother of Kankuro and Temari. As the third jinchuriki of Shukaku, he became a weapon for Suna and earned the nickname "Gaara of the Desert".
Though Gaara was initially a major antagonist in Naruto, he became one of the main protagonists as the story progressed. In Part II, he became the Fifth Kazekage, as well as General Commander and leader of the Fourth Division of the Shinobi Alliance during the Fourth Great Shinobi War.
Solitude, hatred, and sadness shaped him into who he is today. Though he once saw Naruto as his rival, he quickly became one of his best friends. Like Naruto, he harbored one of the nine tailed beasts—Shukaku of the Sand element.
