⛩ Askeladd, whose real name was Lucius Artorius Castus, was a Welsh-Danish Viking whom Thorfinn followed for a decade. He was a major antagonist of the Arc of War, due to Thorfinn's goals.
Askeladd claimed that he was a descendant of the legendary warrior Lucius Artorius Castus through his mother. The latter idolized the story of Artorius and named her son after him. The nickname "Askeladd" comes from "Ashen Lad", as he was constantly covered in ashes from various jobs in his childhood.
He was hired by Floki to assassinate Thors and was then followed for over a decade by a vengeful Thorfinn, who wished to kill his father's killer honorably.
After most of his group was wiped out by Thorkell, Askeladd pledged his service to Canute to achieve his secret goal of protecting Wales from Viking invasions.
