Appearance
His appearance is very similar to that of Usopp, except for the nose and hair color (the shape of the nose being a hereditary trait from Usopp's mother). Indeed, he has blonde hair, while his son has black hair. Twenty years ago, Yasopp had the same hair as him, as well as a slimmer body than now. When he is first seen in Fuschia, he is dressed in a dark blue shirt, dark green trousers that reach down to his calves, blue shoes with buckles, and on his forehead, a headband with his name written on it.
In his last appearance, at Marine Ford, he appears to have become more muscular and has changed his style of dress. He is now wearing a black t-shirt, gray short pants, boots, a bag attached to a large belt, and has a tattoo on his right arm with his name on it. He also wears a small necklace around his neck. He wears a cape with stars on it and has his rifle strapped to his back. His hair is now longer and has formed into dreadlocks.
Personality:
Discover our Jean Jacket Chopper |
He is very proud of his son Usopp. He left his family to join Shanks. His biggest dream was undoubtedly to become a pirate, which he was able to achieve by following Shanks. He is rather a man of honor, as he demonstrated during his duel with Daddy Masterson. However, he is as boastful as his son. This is justified by his level and mastery in shooting, which make him the elite marksman of the Red-Haired Pirates and place him among the best shooters in the world.
Abilities and Skills:
It’s nothing... I could’ve shot the antenna of an ant from 100 meters away.
Yasopp is an excellent sniper, capable of shooting accurately from a hundred meters without missing his target. Luffy declared that he had never seen him miss a shot.
In a filler episode, Daddy Masterson was a highly skilled sniper in the Marines and was known as one of the best. Yasopp was easily able to defeat him in a duel.
Yasopp is foolish, but he is a very good dancer.
Yasopp is depicted as a nearly peerless sniper, capable of shooting an ant in the forehead from a hundred meters away without harming the rest. His precision and observation skills are such that it’s said he never lets a target escape.
Haki:
Yasopp possesses both the Observation Haki and the Armament Haki.
Weapons:
He is an exceptional sniper and always carries a rifle with him. At first, we see him carrying a flintlock pistol, but later, he carries a musket.

Families
Usopp
Usopp turns out to be Yasopp's son. He knows very little about his father—only that he is a member of Shanks' crew. Merry mentions that Yasopp was waiting for his return to the village. When Luffy was young, he wouldn’t stop talking about Usopp. At first, Yasopp doesn’t normally know that Usopp is part of Luffy’s crew, as Luffy’s bounty is under the name “Sniperking.” After the two-year time skip, particularly after Doflamingo's defeat, he recognizes his son in the new bounty poster, which reads “God Ussop.” As for Usopp, even though his father left without coming back, he never hated him or renounced him, and he admits to being proud of him.
Bankina
She was Yasopp’s wife. They never reunited, as Yasopp pursued his dream of becoming a pirate. She understood his dream and was proud to have married him. She passed away due to illness. It is unknown whether Yasopp is aware of her death, as he is far from his village.
Friends and Allies
Shanks
Shanks is his captain, and they seem to get along well. Yasopp was one of the first recruits of Shanks when he formed his crew.
Luffy
When Yasopp lived in Fuchsia, he became friends with Luffy. He often spoke to Luffy about Usopp and seemed to take a liking to the boy, as he wished to do with Usopp, who is the same age. Ten years after leaving Fuchsia, when Mihawk shows them Luffy's first bounty, Yasopp is surprised.
Enemies
Vista
At the end of the Marine Ford battle, Yasopp and Vista were seen glaring at each other with irritation. The Databook Blue Deep mentions that something happened between the two.
Backstory
Past
When Yasopp was young, Shanks came to recruit him on his island after hearing about his skills.
Romance Dawn
When Usopp was young, Yasopp left to join the Red-Haired Pirates, and the crew arrived at Fuchsia Village, where they met Luffy. Yasopp frequently speaks to Luffy about his adventures and his son. One year after arriving in the village, the crew set sail for the Grand Line.
Arc Loguetown
Yasopp reappears when Mihawk brings news of Luffy to Shanks.
In the anime, Yasopp faces Daddy Masterson and wins the duel, though he gets injured in the process.
Arc Jaya
He is seen with his crew, eating together.
Arc Post-Enies Lobby
During the confrontation between Shanks and Whitebeard, Yasopp will ponder his captain's actions as the two Emperors exchange blows at the end of their discussion.
Arc Marine Ford
Yasopp is present at Marine Ford when his captain arrives to end the ongoing war, the day after his encounter with Kaido. He will, along with the Red-Haired Pirates and Whitebeard's crew, witness the burial of Ace and their captain in the New World.

Arc de l'Homme aux 500 Millions
After the two-year time skip, Yasopp attends a wedding with some members of the Red-Haired Pirates on an unknown, ruined island. He is seen reading the latest news about the Straw Hats, laughing—likely because of his son’s new bounty.
Arc Pays des Wa
While the Red-Haired Pirates were anchored outside Wano Country, when Luffy was officially declared one of the Four Emperors, most of the crew members were happy with the news and wanted to see him again. Yasopp was one of the few who wasn’t as joyful because mentally, he wasn’t ready to reunite with his son, Usopp.
Arc Île d'Egg Head
As the crew is dining at a café along the coast of Erbaf, Rockstar informs Shanks that Kidd is attacking, and it seems they’ll have to fight. Shanks declares that the supernova chose a bad time, as they were about to depart. He then excuses himself to the crew but mentions that it’s natural to linger with old friends he believed were dead for so long. He gives the order to set sail to fight at sea, so as not to damage the island. He asks Dorry and Brogy if they want to help him, and both giants, along with Oimo and Karsee, agree enthusiastically. Shanks then orders Rockstar to deliver a message to the enemy—he can either choose to leave the Road Poneglyphs and flee or risk his life by confronting them. As they leave the bar, their allies make way.
Shanks asked Rockstar to warn Kid, but Kid ignored the warning and decided to fight. The Emperor, his commanders, and the giants then prepared for battle. However, Shanks checked with Yasopp, who said he would pursue his fight. After Wano Country, he was back to full strength. With his future sight, he briefly glimpsed what his opponent would do, consequently defeating him and Killer single-handedly, leaving Yasopp and the rest of the commanders without having to intervene. Later, their ship, the Victoria Punk, was sunk, and Kid’s crew was entirely annihilated.
Manga-Animated Differences
When Luffy explains to Usopp where he knows his father from, in the manga, the bandana he wears is marked "YASOPP." In the anime, it’s written as "YASSOPP." His name is written as "Yasopp" on his arm when he arrives at Marineford in the anime.
In the Little East Blue Arc, Luigia mentions Yasopp, saying he was a liar in his youth.
