Reno Ichikawa

Reno is a calm and serene person. Although he initially irritated Kafka for giving up on his dream, he later shows a gentler and more caring side toward his friend, his condition, and his goals. As their bond develops, Reno begins to show his protective side, not only towards Kafka but also towards all his comrades. His determination to fight to protect his peers leads him to completely ignore Iharu Furuhashi's one-sided rivalry with him, always putting their safety first.

In combat, Reno is determined and straightforward, capable of thinking for himself. Due to his immense sense of responsibility toward his colleagues and his desire to become stronger, prolonged use of his Numbers Weapon can cause Reno to lose control and push beyond his limits in order to be strong enough to save those around him.

Powers and Abilities

General Abilities: Reno is a strong member of the team with great potential. Soshiro Hoshina noted that he had the potential to become a captain, as shown when he was able to temporarily block a kaiju as strong as Kaiju No. 9. Jugo Ogata states that he is a prodigy.

After becoming compatible with the Numbers Weapon 6, the most powerful and dangerous weapon in the Defence Force made from the corpse of Kaiju No. 6, Reno’s combat skills and abilities improved significantly, allowing him to move much faster and neutralise a group of kaiju by himself. However, despite the drastic improvement in his combat prowess, it seems that the suit has a negative influence on Reno's behaviour, causing him to fight out of control in order to defeat his opponent. In fact, due to his immense sense of responsibility, Reno is able to draw great power from his suit but pushes his human body beyond its limits, to the point of tearing his muscles and breaking his bones just to defeat his enemy.

Powers

• High and Released Combat Power: When Reno first tries on his Defence Force combat suit, he is initially able to release 8% of the suit's power. After some shooting training, he is able to release 18%, showing significant improvement, as noted by Iharu. Currently, while wearing the Numbers Weapon 6, Reno's total released strength has increased to 43%, and he can still boost the power of his suit to 51%.
• Enhanced Speed and Reflexes: Reno is incredibly fast, surprising Kafka with the speed at which he can move while wearing the suit. He also has incredible reflexes, able to dodge the extremely fast attacks of Kaiju No. 9. His speed is greatly enhanced when he wears the Numbers Weapon 6.
• Enhanced Endurance: Reno has incredible physical endurance, able to continue fighting even after being shot multiple times by Kaiju No. 9. When wearing the Numbers Weapon 6, Reno can keep fighting even with broken bones and muscle tears.
• Cryokinesis: Using the Numbers Weapon 6, Reno can release large amounts of ice and freezing energy from his body, replicating the final powers of Kaiju No. 6. Reno can use this to anchor himself to his surroundings by releasing ice from his feet to stabilise his footing. The suit also includes freezing bullets. Reno can also freeze his enemies with a simple touch of his hand. After further training his skills, Reno can now successfully freeze an entire horde of Daikaiju in a single attack.

Abilities

Expert Marksman: Reno is a highly skilled marksman.

Advanced Growth Rate: After just one month of training, Reno is able to use the Numbers Weapon 6 in combat with great effectiveness. According to Toko, Reno's ability to improve far surpasses that of Kikoru Shinomiya, even though his current released strength is still lower than hers.

Equipment

Respirator Mask: Reno wears a respirator mask in combat.

Rifle: Reno uses a rifle in combat as his primary weapon of choice, equipped with burst rounds and freezing bullets.

Numbers Weapon 6: Marked EC-0115 and provided by Izumo Tech, Reno's personal Numbers Weapon is a special combat suit, recognised as the most powerful and dangerous weapon in the Defence Force, made from the corpse of Kaiju No. 6. This suit allows the user to release ice. The suit also enhances his general skills and physical abilities far beyond those of the standard Defence Force combat suits.

Cannons: Reno has acquired sixteen small cannons, marked FN-0006 and provided by Izumo Tech, to accompany his Numbers Weapon. The cannons allow him to better control his freezing attacks and easily freeze multiple giant-sized Daikaiju effortlessly.

Combat Suit (formerly): Before receiving the Numbers Weapon 6, Reno wore the usual combat suit of the Defence Force.

Trivia

Reno enjoys music, cooking, and shonen mangas. Reno joined Monster Sweeper Inc. because he thought the aptitude test for joining the Defence Force would involve a kaiju elimination. It turned out he was wrong. Reno ranked No. 3 in the first character popularity polls.
