Merlin
Merlin is the Boar's Sin of Gluttony from the Seven Deadly Sins. She is hailed as the greatest sorceress in all of Britannia. Her Sacred Treasure is the Morning Star Aldan, a floating orb she summons at will to channel her spells and her unique ability, Infinity. The name "Merlin" is actually a pseudonym, as her true name is unpronounceable to the human tongue.

Appearance
Ten years ago, Merlin wore full plate armor and a distinctive helmet that concealed her identity, much like the other Sins. Her wanted poster depicts her as a mature woman with black hair reaching the nape of her neck.
She typically dresses in high-waisted shorts, black thigh-high boots, and a fur-collared long jacket that reveals her midriff.
It is later revealed that Merlin’s true form is that of a young girl with long, dark brown hair.
Personality
Merlin possesses a playful and somewhat mocking nature, often enjoying a good tease at her friends' expense.
She is a cold logician who has no reservations about using anyone as a "guinea pig" for her magical experiments.
Despite her detached demeanor, she shares a deep bond with Elizabeth and shows genuine care for Arthur Pendragon.
History
3,000 Years Ago
Merlin was born in Belialuin, the capital of wizards, during the ancient war between the Demon and Goddess clans. Though the city remained neutral, Merlin’s birth—a child gifted with the power of "Infinity"—shifted the balance of power.
Both the Demon King and the Supreme Deity sought to bring her to their side. While the leaders of Belialuin claimed Merlin belonged to the city, she chose to negotiate with the gods herself.
She promised her loyalty to whoever granted her the best blessing. The Demon King gave her the secrets of dark arts and immunity to the Goddesses' brainwashing. The Supreme Deity granted her protection against dark curses and commandments.
Merlin cunningly betrayed them both, taking the gifts while refusing to join either side. In retaliation, the gods cursed Belialuin, destroying it with fire and thunder. Only Merlin survived, shielded by her new powers, before vanishing for centuries.
Her Sin of Gluttony stems from this insatiable thirst for knowledge and power, which led to the ruin of her home.
Later, she met Meliodas and the original Elizabeth, forming a bond so strong she viewed Elizabeth as an older sister.
13 Years Ago
Merlin and Meliodas were the founding members of the Seven Deadly Sins. Guided by King Bartra's visions, Merlin helped identify and recruit the remaining five members.
During their early missions, she met a young Elizabeth Liones. When she and Meliodas went to recruit Escanor, Merlin showed a unique interest in him. Escanor fell instantly in love, moved by the fact that Merlin was never intimidated by his overwhelming power.
12 Years Ago
When the Sins were summoned by Great Holy Knight Zaratras, Merlin playfully teased her comrades about being in trouble. However, they found Zaratras murdered, and the Holy Knights immediately framed the Sins for the crime. During their escape, Merlin knocked Meliodas unconscious to prevent him from losing control, and the group disbanded into exile.
It was likely during this time that she traveled to Camelot and became a mentor to the young Arthur.
The Giant Armor Arc
When Meliodas questions Gowther about the day they were framed, Gowther reveals that Merlin was the one who attacked Meliodas to facilitate their escape. Gowther notes that despite the many rumors surrounding her, the truth about Merlin remains elusive.
Abilities and Equipment
As the deputy leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, Merlin possesses immense power. Renowned as Britannia's greatest sorceress, she easily outmatched the high-ranking Holy Knights of Liones and her former pupil, Vivian. She successfully defeated Grayroad of Pacifism and later held her own against Chandler and Cusack, two of the highest-ranking demons, who labeled her the "Child of Belialuin." Even Ludociel of the Four Archangels admitted he would never want her as an enemy.
The mere mention of her birthplace is enough to strike fear into members of the Ten Commandments. Her mastery of magic allows her to levitate, create mass illusions, and heal illnesses using magical artifacts. Following the battle against the Commandments, she restored the destroyed Kingdom of Liones to its former glory in a single night.
In combat, Merlin utilizes teleportation, offensive rays, and elemental spells channeled through Aldan. Her "Infinity" ability allows her to keep any spell active forever without additional mana cost. After receiving blessings from both the Demon King and the Supreme Deity, she gained total immunity to possession and curses. Her greatest weapon, however, is her intellect—frequently using strategy to neutralize threats without a direct physical confrontation.
Special Techniques
- Infinity「無限 Mugen」: A passive ability that allows Merlin to make the duration of any spell last indefinitely. It is considered one of the most "broken" powers in existence.
- Absolute Cancellation「絶対強制解除 Zettai Kyōsei Kaijo」: By placing her hands over a spell, Merlin can completely erase it. If the magic is too powerful, she can at least suspend its effects temporarily.
