Appearance

Lucky Roux is a rather stout character and is always seen munching on a piece of meat. He permanently wears red glasses. Among the crew, he seems to have changed the least over the years and shows little sign of aging. He often smiles, regardless of the seriousness of the situation.

He wears a vertically striped t-shirt in white and green, paired with his bandana on his head. He also dons beige shorts with a dark green belt around his waist and red shoes with fur around the ankles. Over his shoulders, he has a yellow coat draped like a cape, featuring red shoulder guards with black stripes.

Personality.

Lucky Roux appears to be a very joyful pirate, frequently seen hanging out with another crew member of Shanks, Yasopp. He seems to be one of the most trustworthy members of Shanks' crew, as he is almost always by his captain’s side when the Red-Haired Pirates appear, alongside Ben Beckman and Yasopp. He is the first character in the manga to take someone’s life, setting the tone for the series.

He has a very large appetite, and in the manga, he is often seen drinking an entire barrel of sake alone in the background. He is almost always depicted with a big smile, even during battles. He frequently holds a large piece of meat in his hand.

It’s said that Lucky Roux becomes nervous around women, even though he is an easygoing person.

Skills and Abilities

Not much is known about Roux’s abilities, but as an important member of an emperor's crew, he is presumed to be quite powerful. Despite his round physique, he managed to sneak behind a bandit without being noticed.

Despite his robust body, he was able to approach a gangster and shoot before any of the enemies noticed his movement. Additionally, his leg muscles are very strong and flexible. In combat, he knocks down enemies like they’re bowling pins.

Weapon

He uses a flintlock pistol to shoot a bandit at close range who threatened Shanks.

Haki

Lucky Roux possesses both Observation Haki and Armament Haki.

Backstory

Twelve years ago, Lucky Roux was part of Shanks' crew when they discovered the Gomu Gomu No Mi, stealing it from a ship belonging to the World Government.

Romance Dawn

The way Lucky Roux joined the Red-Haired Pirates is unknown. He is first seen in Luffy’s past, part of Shanks' crew. Roux joyfully joins the team as they boast about the pirate life in front of Luffy. He later supports his captain when a bandit threatens him with a gun, ultimately killing the bandit.

Arlong Park

When Mihawk informs his former rival about Luffy, the crew continues to celebrate with him, partying for the second day in a row.

Jaya Arc

When Rockstar returns from his meeting with Whitebeard, Lucky Roux is seen with Shanks and the others. He asks Shanks what he plans to do now, since Whitebeard had torn his letter.

Post-Enies Lobby Arc

Roux is seen observing Shanks and Whitebeard during their brief confrontation on the Moby Dick.

Marineford Arc

His crew intercepted Kaido, so it can be easily assumed that he was present. When the Red-Haired Pirates arrive at Marineford, he stands next to Shanks and the rest of the crew. While nonchalantly eating a piece of meat, he asks Shanks if he wants to see Luffy again after ten years without seeing him. Lucky Roux is also seen at Ace and Whitebeard's funeral on an island somewhere in the New World.

Four Emperors Saga

Wano Country Arc

Lucky Roux is on the Red Force with the rest of the crew, off the coast of Wano Country. He is thrilled to finally see Luffy after so long, but is surprised and disheartened when his captain expresses disinterest. When reminded of a recent issue in their territory, Roux recalls that a follower of Luffy burned the Red-Haired Pirates' flags and replaced them with Straw Hat flags. Shanks then asks how, if he were to meet Luffy, he would deal with it, and Roux reluctantly agrees to his captain's decision.

Egg Head Island Arc

While the crew is dining at a café along the coast of Elbaf, Rockstar informs Shanks that Kidd is attacking, and it seems they will need to fight. The captain declares that the supernova chose a bad time because they were about to leave. He apologizes to the rest of the crew, but insists it’s normal to linger to see old friends he believed to be long dead. He orders the crew to set sail to fight at sea to avoid causing damage to the island, and asks Dorry and Brogy if they can lend a hand, both of whom eagerly agree, along with Oimo and Karsee. Shanks then orders Rockstar to deliver a message to the enemy—he can choose to leave his copies of the Road Poneglyph and flee, or risk his life by facing him. As they leave the bar, the allies make way for them.

Even though Shanks ordered Rockstar to warn Eustass Kid to leave his copies of the Road Poneglyph and flee, the latter ignored the warning and took the risk of engaging in a fight. As a result, the Emperor, his commanders, and the giants prepared for battle. However, Lucky Roux didn’t have to intervene in the end, although his captain warned him not to underestimate the young pirates. Shanks defeated Kid and Killer in a single attack, and Brogy and Dorry ultimately sank their ship. The Kid Pirates were thus destroyed.

Major Battles:
