Appearance
Karasu is a tall, muscular man with a bald head who wears a metal beak-shaped mask over his face, which functions as a speaker, as he always speaks in a low voice, though he rarely remembers to activate it. He wears a coat covered in dark feathers that leaves his chest exposed, dark trousers, and a scarf around his neck. His appearance overall evokes that of a raven.

Personality
Karasu is a very calm man who usually speaks in inaudible mutterings, which is why the speaker function of his mask is necessary for him to be heard by others. He doesn't seem to appreciate people who react negatively to his mutterings, as evidenced by the veins swelling on his forehead in anger when Barbe Rose questions him.
Abilities and Skills
As an elite officer of the Revolutionary Army, Karasu holds an important position within the organisation, and as commander of the Northern Army, he exercises authority over all soldiers who are part of it.
Devil Fruit
Karasu has eaten the Susu Susu no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to control soot at will, with the creation of soot crows being its main use. In this form, he can perform actions over a wide area, such as when he simultaneously steals all the swords from the Pirates of Barbe Rose. Each crow is capable of carrying a medium-sized person on its back, and Karasu appears to be able to deliver newspapers to other revolutionaries. He is also able to have his creations communicate with other individuals.

He is also capable of creating soot obelisks, which he uses to attack his opponents.
Haki
Karasu has the ability to use both the Armament Haki and the Observation Haki.
History
Dressrosa Arc
After Sabo, Koala, and Hack completed their mission on Dressrosa, Karasu and a few others came to take them back to Baltigo. Karasu flew towards Sabo in the form of a group of crows. He informed him that they were only waiting for him to depart and took him to the ship, where they set sail.
Reverie Arc
Karasu and the other commanders Lindbergh, Belo Betty, and Morley arrived at the Kingdom of Lulusia to protect it from the Pirates of Barbe Rose. When Barbe Rose wondered what Karasu was saying, the executive gave him a dark glare. Betty asked him and Lindbergh to assist the citizens, whom she had encouraged to act. Transformed into crows, Karasu easily stole the swords from the pirates, who were quickly defeated. The commanders then headed towards Momoiro Island to meet the rest of the army regarding their upcoming declaration of war against the Celestial Dragons. As they were leaving, Lindbergh pointed out that Karasu had forgotten to activate his speaker.
Later, Karasu infiltrated Marie Joie with Sabo, manifesting as a flock of crows that scared King Sterry along the way.
Karasu successfully infiltrated Mary Geoise with Sabo, Morley, and Lindbergh. Morley then hid them in an underground shelter with his power, while Sabo expressed his outrage over Kuma’s fate.
Wano Kuni Arc
His silhouette is seen when Blackbeard explains that the Revolutionaries stormed the Reverie to try to save Kuma and are now facing the admirals Ryokugyu and Fujitora at Marie Joie.
The revolutionaries managed to escape with Kuma but were separated from Sabo.
Egghead Island Arc
Back on Momoiro Island, Lindbergh and the other revolutionaries were relieved to hear that Sabo was still alive, despite the news reporting that he had assassinated Nefertari Cobra. As Dragon was about to question Kuma, Sabo called the other revolutionaries and denied having killed the king. Sabo tried to report what he had seen at Pangea Castle, but the World Government cut off the signal and destroyed the Kingdom of Lulusia.
Later, the revolutionaries were in the process of repairing Kuma when he stood up on his own, ran towards the coast, and propelled himself off the island.
Karasu then took part in the attack on Mary alongside his companions.

Trivialities
- "Karasu" means "raven" in Japanese.
- His name is mentioned in the credits of Episode 738, although it is only revealed in the manga in Chapter 904. This is possibly a coincidence, as Episode 738 only shows crows.
- Karasu resembles Vulture, one of Spider-Man’s recurring enemies, particularly due to his baldness, his beak-shaped mask, and his connection to birds.
- The mask Karasu wears is similar to the one worn by plague doctors.
- His outlaw status in relation to the World Government and his connection to crows are common with the character of Itachi Uchiha and his crow, and Karasu is also the name of the puppet created by Sasori, which belongs to Kankuro in Naruto. Sasori and Itachi were both members of the Akatsuki, an organisation that is as dangerous to the five villages as the Revolutionary Army is to the World Government. The symbol of Akatsuki is a cloud, which evokes the sky, and Karasu uses an animal that flies in the sky.
- Karasu's voice is so weak that he needs a megaphone to speak, which is similar to Melk the 1st from the Toriko manga. He has such a weak voice that he must use a special stone to amplify his voice so that others can understand him.
- His Devil Fruit, which is not named, is somewhat similar to the Tama Tama no Mi of Tamago, in the sense that both possess traits belonging to the three categories of Devil Fruits, making it difficult to classify.
- Both fruits have powers related to birds.
- Karasu likes sausages but hates chicken.
- Oda revealed in the SBS of Volume 91 that his favourite pastime is volunteering.
