Jin Bubaigawara

Jin Bubaigawara

Jin Bubaigawara, better known by his villain alias Twice, was a pivotal member of the League of Villains.

Following the Revival Celebration, the League merged with the Meta Liberation Army to form the Paranormal Liberation Front, where Jin was elevated to the rank of one of the nine elite Officers.

Appearance

Jin Bubaigawara is an adult man with blonde hair and blue-gray eyes. A prominent scar marks his forehead—the result of a traumatic past incident. In his civilian life, he typically wears a blue collared shirt over a white tank top, paired with simple trousers and boots.

As Twice, his costume consists of a form-fitting black and gray bodysuit that conceals his entire body. His mask features white eye sockets with a gray upper half and a black lower half. He wears distinctive red and green sports wristbands that serve a practical purpose: storing the measuring tapes he uses to activate his Quirk.

The design of his jumpsuit is primarily black, with gray patterns on his chest and torso that cleverly form the letters "T" and "W," representing his alias.

Personality

Twice possessed one of the most unique and complex personalities in the series. Explosive, high-energy, and often the source of comic relief, he was known for his dramatic poses and eccentric behavior. However, he suffered from a severe internal conflict, constantly contradicting his own statements with opposing remarks in different voices. For instance, he might insult a teammate like Dabi and immediately follow it with a heartfelt compliment.

Despite his erratic nature, Jin was defined by his loyalty to his friends. He was desperate to rescue Giran—the broker who first introduced him to the League—when he was captured by the Liberation Army, mourning even the loss of Giran's fingers as if they were his own.

Deep down, Jin was a man struggling with a fractured sense of identity. He joined the League of Villains because they were the only ones who accepted his instability, allowing him to feel comfortable in his own skin. Without his mask, he suffered from a condition similar to dissociative identity disorder, where his split personalities would argue violently. He only felt "whole" when his face was covered.

This identity crisis was born from a tragic accident where his own clones revolted against him, leaving him terrified that he might not be the "original" Jin Bubaigawara. It wasn't until his battle in Deika City that he finally overcame this trauma, realizing his own reality and risking everything to protect Himiko Toga.

History and Biography

Jin’s life was marked by tragedy from a young age. After his parents were killed in a crossfire during a criminal shootout, he was left an orphan with no support system. He eventually found work and shelter through a kind employer, but a motorcycle accident—in which a pedestrian was injured—cost him everything. Despite being cleared of legal wrongdoing, the stigma of the accident led to his firing and eviction, leaving him homeless and spiraling into depression.

In his isolation, Jin used his Quirk, Double, to create a friend he could trust: himself. This eventually escalated into a life of crime, with Jin using an army of clones to commit high-profile robberies, making him one of Japan's most wanted criminals. However, his laziness backfired; his clones, sharing his personality, eventually rebelled. They fought for nine days in a bloody civil war until only one remained. This left Jin permanently scarred—both physically on his forehead and mentally by the fear that he was just a clone who had survived the slaughter.

Mr Compress

Forest Training Camp Arc

Twice was recruited into the League's Vanguard Action Squad following the influence of Stain. His first major mission was the raid on U.A.’s summer training camp to kidnap Katsuki Bakugo. During the battle, Twice provided crucial support by creating clones of Dabi to distract and harass the heroes, specifically keeping Eraser Head occupied.

While he often bickered with Dabi and criticized their progress, Twice showed his acrobatic skills and combat prowess when the heroes attempted to rescue Bakugo. He held his own against Shoto Todoroki, using his tape measures to slice through ice, all while maintaining his eccentric and contradictory commentary. Eventually, the mission was a success, and he retreated with the League via Kurogiri’s portals.

Hideout Raid Arc

Back at the hideout, Twice was present during the attempt to recruit Bakugo. When the Pro Heroes launched their surprise raid, Jin was quickly restrained by Kamui Woods' wooden bindings. However, thanks to All For One's intervention and a forced warp, the League was able to escape to a secondary location. Despite the defeat of their benefactor, the League survived, with Tomura Shigaraki vowing to continue their mission.

Overhaul and the Shie Hassaikai Arc

During a period of instability for the League, Twice encountered Overhaul, the leader of the Eight Precepts of Death. The meeting turned violent when Overhaul killed Magne, an act Jin never forgave. Under a tense agreement, Shigaraki "lent" Twice and Toga to the Yakuza.

Twice’s loyalty was put to the test as he navigated the Yakuza’s labyrinthine base. He eventually worked with Toga to sabotage the Yakuza from the inside, enraged by their treatment of the League. By manipulating the battlefield and driving the Yakuza's Mimic to madness, Twice helped ensure the downfall of the Hassaikai, paving the way for the League to seize Overhaul's Quirk-destroying drugs for themselves.

The Meta Liberation Army & Quirk Awakening

The turning point for Twice came during the war against Re-Destro’s Meta Liberation Army. When Giran was kidnapped and Toga was left near death, Jin was cornered by Skeptic’s puppets, which were fashioned to look exactly like him. The psychological torture nearly broke him, as the puppets mocked his trauma and attempted to kill Toga.

In this moment of absolute crisis, Jin realized that if his arms were broken and he hadn't disappeared, he had to be the original. This breakthrough allowed his Quirk to "awaken," removing the self-imposed limit that prevented him from making clones of himself. He unleashed the Sad Man’s Parade—an endless sea of Twice clones that overwhelmed the city and shifted the tide of the war, proving that he was effectively a one-man army.

Mr Compress

Following the League's victory and the formation of the Paranormal Liberation Front, Twice became a key officer. However, his trusting nature led him to befriend Hawks, a Pro Hero working as a double agent. Jin unknowingly leaked vital secrets to Hawks, setting the stage for the devastating Paranormal Liberation War.
