Emul - Shangri La Frontier

Emul (エムル, Emuru) is a vorpal rabbit and the guide for the unique quest that Sunraku encounters, titled "Invitation from Rabituza", and a main non-playable character (NPC). Emul is a strong ally with powerful magical abilities, such as the power to teleport other characters.

Appearance

Under her rabbit form, she appears as a white rabbit with floppy ears, dressed in a magician's stage outfit (complete with a top hat), a mix between that and Alice’s White Rabbit from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Like in Disney’s version of the White Rabbit, she carries a pocket watch, which she seems to check from time to time. Later in the story, she reveals that she can temporarily transform into a human, taking the appearance of a young girl wearing a similar outfit, with pink hair.

Personality

Emul is a very enthusiastic and hardworking girl. She genuinely wants to be of help to Sunraku.

Plot

She finds Sunraku after his reappearance following his first encounter with a Unique Monster, and after he receives the curse mark that triggers a reaction with NPCs. She finds him in Secondia before guiding him towards a magical summoning gate, leading him to Rabituza to meet its father/chief, Vysache. After the introduction, Emul is assigned to assist Sunraku to aid him in his adventures.

Skills

• Magic Blade: Fires a magical attack in the form of a blade. By swinging her magical book, she releases a crescent-shaped energy blade of golden light.
• Enhanced Magic Blade: A larger and more powerful version of the Magic Blade, thanks to the "Add Spell" ability. It releases a bigger crescent-shaped energy blade, but with a golden-orange theme.
• Add Spell: Enhances the next spell’s power. A red glow covers Emul’s weapon, her ‘book’, before casting another spell.

• Teleportation with the Magical Scroll: Teleports anything in the vicinity. Typically, after opening her book and touching something or someone, she disappears in a bright blur and reappears elsewhere, according to the caster’s choice.
• Metamorphosis: Using the Mysterious Vorpal Bracelet on her right wrist, Emul makes it glow with yellow light before a cloud of smoke covers the rabbit, transforming her into her human form. However, this consumes a lot of magic, so she can only remain in this form for 4 to 5 minutes. Emul drinks magical potions to recover MP and extend her human form, but once exhausted, she reverts to her rabbit form after 4 to 5 minutes.

• Mysterious Vorpal Bracelet: The Mysterious Vorpal Bracelet is an item that Emul possesses, allowing her to transform. It appears as a golden bracelet with a deep red line in the center and a golden leaf pattern.

Emul’s first appearance in the anime is similar to Alice’s White Rabbit from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, with her initial appearance where she checks her pocket watch and Sunraku chases her to begin the unique storyline.
