Benn Beckman
Benn Beckman, known as Ben Beckman in French, is the first mate and an officer of the Red-Haired Crew.

Appearance
At his first appearance, Benn Beckman has long black hair tied in a ponytail and always keeps a rifle within reach. Later in the series, his hair turns grey, and he gains a large X-shaped scar on his left temple. Benn is a tall man, standing noticeably taller than Shanks. His character design in the French version of the anime differs slightly from that in the manga.
Personality
Benn Beckman seems to enjoy himself less than the other crew members. However, he remains very relaxed and always acts with a calm demeanor. He is often compared to Zoro in his attitude. Alongside Lucky Roux and Yasopp, he is one of Shanks' most trusted crew members, always appearing by his side during significant events. At times, Beckman appears surprised by his captain's actions, such as when he panicked during Luffy's kidnapping or when Mihawk brought news of Luffy's first bounty.
Beckman is often the first to speak when the crew appears and tends to ask critical questions about their situation. For instance, he wondered if the World Government might try to stop them from meeting Whitebeard. As someone who knows Shanks better than anyone, Shanks affectionately calls him "Beck."
Beckman has a fondness for women and is very popular among them. His intelligence and strategic mindset, similar to Sanji's demeanor, make him the strategist of the crew. Additionally, he enjoys smoking, finding it one of the most relaxing things in the world.
Abilities and Skills:
According to Oda, Benn Beckman has the highest IQ of all characters introduced in the East Blue saga. As the first mate of a Yonko, he is undoubtedly incredibly powerful.
During the Battle of Marineford, Admiral Kizaru chose not to engage him, despite previously facing Whitebeard's first division commander Marco and the Yonko himself. However, it is worth noting that Kizaru continued his attack on Luffy even while Beckman had him at gunpoint. Being Shanks' right-hand man, Beckman likely possesses at least the two common forms of Haki: Armament Haki and Observation Haki.
He has also demonstrated his strength by single-handedly defeating a group of Higuma's bandits, mockingly suggesting they bring a warship if they wanted to fight him. Like Shanks, Beckman despises anyone threatening his friends.
Benn Beckman is incredibly powerful, combining his Haki with his rifle, allowing his bullets to pierce any opponent. Another display of his strength is when he successfully removed the arm of Worst Generation pirate Eustass Kid.
Observation Haki
Benn Beckman is a highly skilled user of Observation Haki, allowing him to perceive his surroundings and anticipate the actions of his opponents with remarkable precision.
Armament Haki
Beckman possesses the ability to use Armament Haki. He is capable of infusing his rifle bullets with this type of Haki, making them powerful enough to pierce through his enemies' bodies effortlessly.
History
Romance Dawn
How Benn Beckman became a member of Shanks' crew remains unknown. In Monkey D. Luffy's hometown, he attempted to explain his captain's decision not to take Luffy with them. Later, after the incident with Higuma, Beckman and Lucky Roo confronted the bandit's men. They demolished the entire group, leaving only Higuma standing.
Arlong Park Arc
When Mihawk informed the crew about Luffy's exploits, the Red-Haired Pirates and the Warlord celebrated together, just as they had the day before.
Post-Enies Lobby Arc
Benn Beckman was seen with the other members of the Red-Haired Pirates when they boarded the Moby Dick. He admired the clash between Shanks' sword and Whitebeard's bisento.
Prelude to the War of Whitebeard
Vice Admiral Momonga mentioned that the Red-Haired Pirates had intercepted Kaidou. It can be assumed that Beckman was with the crew during this encounter.
Marineford Arc
During the Battle of Marineford, Benn Beckman prevented Admiral Kizaru from attacking Luffy by aiming his weapon at him and ordering him not to move. Beckman was apparently a significant enough threat to make an admiral halt his actions, as Kizaru raised his hands in a somewhat sarcastic gesture of surrender. However, Kizaru made one last attempt to shoot Luffy with his laser beams. Afterward, Beckman and the crew peacefully left the battlefield, taking Ace and Whitebeard's bodies with them.
After the War
Beckman is seen at the funeral of Ace and Whitebeard somewhere on an unknown island in the New World.
Whole Cake Arc
He is later seen again on a ruined island with his crew, celebrating a wedding and learning about the new bounties of the Straw Hat crew.
Wano Country Arc
A week after the raid on Onigashima, the Red-Haired Pirates sailed to the outskirts of Wano Country. While the others were delighted to see Luffy again, Beckman was reading the newspaper when Shanks sat beside him and said it was time for them to move and claim the One Piece. After Shanks intimidated Ryokugyu to stop his attack on Wano, the Red-Haired Pirates set sail.
While the crew is having lunch at a café on the coast of Elbaf, Rockstar informs Shanks that Kidd is attacking them, and it seems they will have to fight. The captain then remarks that the supernova has terrible timing, as they were about to leave. He then apologises to the rest of the crew but notes that it is only natural to linger with old friends he thought long dead. Beckman remarks that their enemies will be furious about the delay, and Lucky Roux asks if he really thinks they will only be angry at the captain. Shanks then gives the order to set sail and fight at sea to avoid damaging the island. He asks Dorry and Brogy if they will lend him a hand; both of them cheer enthusiastically, as do Oimo and Kashii. Shanks then orders Rockstar to deliver a message to the enemy: they can choose to hand over their copies of the Road Poneglyphs and flee or risk their lives facing him. As they leave the bar, their allies step aside, and Beckman is praised.
However, Ben Beckman and the commanders did not even need to intervene. Shanks defeated Kidd and Killer alone in no time, after which the giant captains sank their ship. The Kidd Pirates faced the Red-Haired Pirates and were defeated.
