Ban
Ban, the Fox Sin of Greed, is a core member of the Seven Deadly Sins. After the group was framed and disbanded, Ban was imprisoned within the high-security Baste Dungeon, only choosing to escape when he learned that his captain, Meliodas, was still alive. Wielding his Sacred Treasure, the four-section staff Courechouse, Ban is a formidable warrior. He is most famous for his former immortality—granted by the Fountain of Youth—and his signature magical ability, Snatch. Though he eventually sacrificed his eternal life to resurrect his beloved Elaine, Ban remains one of the most powerful humans to ever walk Britannia.

Personality
Ban possesses a reckless and hedonistic nature, often seen acting on impulse or lounging in a drunken stupor. This laid-back demeanor frequently leads enemies to underestimate him—a fatal mistake, as Ban is a tactical genius in combat who takes genuine pleasure in the heat of battle.
Beneath his cocky exterior and constant smile, Ban carries a deep sense of loneliness and grief over the loss of Elaine. His unwavering loyalty to her is his primary driving force, pushing him to cross the boundaries of life and death to save her at any cost.
History
The Fountain of Youth
Over 20 years ago, Ban was an ambitious bandit who climbed the Great Tree in the Fairy King's Forest to claim the Fountain of Youth. There he met Elaine, the Guardian Saint. Though she initially repelled him, the two eventually fell in love. When a Red Demon attacked and burned the forest, Elaine sacrificed herself to give Ban the water of the Fountain, making him immortal. Ban eventually slew the demon, but he could never forgive himself for Elaine’s death.
Joining the Sins
Ban's first meeting with Meliodas was anything but peaceful. While Meliodas was resting in a cave, Ban's curiosity regarding the Captain's broken sword led to a confrontation. Meliodas seriously wounded Ban’s neck—leaving the only scar that his immortality could never heal. Ban was fascinated by Meliodas’ hidden power and quickly became his most loyal friend and "eternal rival."
The Baste Dungeon Arc
After five years of imprisonment, Ban sensed Meliodas approaching and broke out of his cell with ease. He effortlessly defeated Jude of the Weird Fangs, proving that years of torture had done nothing to dampen his strength. Upon reuniting with Meliodas, the two engaged in a "friendly" greeting that involved arm-wrestling with such force that the entire Baste Dungeon collapsed around them.
The reunion marked the official beginning of the Seven Deadly Sins' journey to reclaim the Kingdom of Liones. Ban’s culinary skills also made him the official chef of the Boar Hat tavern, though his cooking is often better than the Captain’s "toxic" recipes.
Capabilities and Equipment
Ban’s speed and physical strength far exceed human limits. His signature style involves using his speed in conjunction with his magic to rip organs out of his opponents before they can even blink. While he was immortal, he fought with a reckless, self-sacrificing style that made him a nightmare for any opponent.
- Snatch (Hijacking): This ability allows Ban to "steal" physical objects or the physical attributes of his enemies. He can drain an opponent's strength and speed to add to his own, weakening them while he becomes a powerhouse.
- Immortality & Regeneration: For most of the series, Ban was immune to age, poison, and conventional death. His blood possessed healing properties, capable of restoring the Fairy King’s Forest and mending the wounds of others.
- Courechouse: His Sacred Treasure is a four-section staff that enhances his Snatch ability, allowing him to pull objects or power from much greater distances.
After his grueling journey through Purgatory, Ban's power level skyrocketed. The harsh conditions evolved his physical durability to a level where he could survive the Demon King’s attacks even after losing his immortality. He has truly become one of the strongest mortals in history.
Key Relations
- Meliodas: His best friend and captain. Their bond is unbreakable, even when Ban was briefly tempted by the Goddesses to kill Meliodas in exchange for Elaine's life.
- Elaine: The love of his life. Ban’s entire journey is defined by his devotion to her, ultimately proving his love by giving up his greatest gift—immortality—to see her live again.
- King: Originally enemies due to King's misunderstanding of Elaine’s death, the two eventually became close allies and brothers-in-law.
- Jericho: Although Ban sees her only as a "little sister" or a close companion, Jericho developed deep feelings for him. Ban respects her strength and is one of the few humans he truly trusts.
- Zhivago: Ban’s foster father who taught him the art of thievery. Zhivago’s influence shaped Ban into the man (and bandit) he is today.
