After years of fans of Attack on Titan seeing the Exploration Battalion as the protagonists of the manga, they were surprised to encounter many new characters during the Marley arc, which portrayed the antagonists of previous arcs in a new light as heroes. One of the main characters in the Marley and War for Paradis arcs was Falco Grice, a warrior candidate who would eventually inherit the Jaw Titan.

Falco Grice’s Evolution
Throughout his story, Falco experienced significant growth and became one of the fan-favorite warriors throughout the series. Here are his ten best quotes from the manga.
10. "The clearest memory is flying above the clouds, and I feel like it’s something I can do too."
Falco was a very unique Titan Shifter. Although he inherited the Jaw Titan from Porco, he also had Zeke's spinal fluid in him, which gave him characteristics unique to the inheritors of the Beast Titan.
He gained a memory from a previous Beast Titan, which allowed him to realize that his Titan could fly, unlike the other Nine Titans of that time. Along with Gabi and Annie, they decided to help their friends fight the Rumbling using Falco’s greatest ability.

9. "Hey, you. It’s dangerous here. Go fly somewhere far from here. You have wings. Use them."
Falco was first introduced during the war between Marley and the Middle Eastern Allied Forces. He was lying on the ground, watching a bird fly above him.
He spoke these words before his brother, Colt, saved him. Although it seemed trivial at the time, this quote was one of the foreshadowings that Falco would eventually gain the power to fly.

To attack Marley, inherit the War Hammer Titan, and bring Zeke to Paradis, Eren disguised himself as a patient in a hospital under the name Kruger and befriended Falco.
He had Falco deliver a letter, which was sent to the Exploration Battalion. When Falco discovered Eren's true identity, he was shocked and devastated, feeling betrayed by someone he once admired.

Once Falco inherited the Jaw Titan, Connie saw it as the perfect opportunity to save his mother, who had been transformed into a Titan by Zeke years ago. He tricked Falco into going to his village, intending to have his mother devour the Titan.
Fortunately, Falco realized Connie's intentions, and with Armin's intervention, they managed to avoid the worst. Armin convinced Connie that his mother would never have wanted that.

Falco’s Heroic Journey
Falco’s arc in Attack on Titan delves into both his personal evolution and his crucial role in the final battles. His complex relationship with Gabi, his moral dilemmas, and his desire to protect those he loves make him a central figure in the series' climax.
6. "She’s famous here in this district. She was even recognized for what she did during the war."
When Eren pretended to befriend Falco, the young warrior confided in him about his desire to inherit the Armored Titan instead of Gabi, revealing his feelings for her. Although Gabi had fought more than Falco at the beginning of their journey, Falco eventually caught up and played a crucial role in Eren’s defeat, especially by saving his comrades.
5. "Sir, I’ll call for help! Not everyone over there is an enemy. There’s me, there’s Gabi—we’re on your side."
Falco discovered Eren’s true identity when he brought Reiner to him. After Eren transformed and attacked Marley, Reiner protected Falco but lost his will to live, falling into depression after realizing he had killed thousands of innocents on Paradis.
Luckily, Falco was one of the reasons Reiner found the strength to keep fighting, alongside Gabi.

By the end of the series, Falco reunited with his parents. However, their reunion was short-lived, as he, the other Titan Shifters, and the Ackermans had to face Eren one last time.

After Gabi helped Marley defeat the Middle Eastern Allied Forces, her comrades hailed her as a hero. However, Falco was not happy, as it meant that Gabi’s chances of inheriting the Armored Titan were increasing.
He voiced his concerns to Reiner, who pretended to be angry at Falco and even threatened to expose him, though in reality, he shared Falco’s point of view. Reiner encouraged Falco to work harder, so that Marley would choose him instead of Gabi to become the next Armored Titan.

When Gabi and Falco were taken to Paradis, they met Kaya. Although Gabi despised her, Falco tried to be kind, having started to realize that the Eldians on Paradis weren’t the demons Marley had forced them to believe.
When Kaya asked why her mother had to die, this is what Falco said. He tried to ease her pain by explaining that her mother was an innocent victim of an unjust war.
