Aoi Kaguragi
Aoi Kaguragi is a young member of the third division of the defence forces. After the destruction of Tachikawa base, he was temporarily transferred to the second division before returning to the third division.

Appearance
Aoi is a tall, muscular young man with tanned skin, short spiky mint-green hair, and red eyes, notably lacking eyebrows. He generally has a serious expression on his face.
While on duty, he wears the Defence Forces uniform as well as his combat attire on the battlefield.
Personality
Aoi has a very serious demeanour, always striving to be at his best and outshine his peers, doing whatever it takes to become stronger and surpass others. Despite his occasionally cold nature, he hides far more of his emotions than he shows. In fact, due to his proud personality, he shares a rivalry with Haruichi Izumo, another highly skilled trainee.
History
Aoi was a rising star in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) but turned down his future in the JGSDF to apply for the Defence Force.
The Man Who Became a Kaiju Arc
Aoi passed the second stage of the Defence Force exam, ranking first in the physical fitness test, though he kept his focus on Kikoru Shinomiya throughout.
For the aptitude test, he managed to achieve a 15% synchronisation rate with the Defence Force suit. However, during the test, he struggled to keep up with Kikoru. After the exam and the subsequent incident, he and the other candidates were moved to safety. A few days later, he was officially appointed as a member of the Defence Force.
Neutralisation Operation at Sagamihara at Dawn
Two months after Aoi and the others underwent firearms training, he told Haruichi Izumo that he had caught up in strength after unlocking 25% of his suit’s power. That night, he and the other boys were in the bathhouse, talking about their reasons for joining the Defence Force. When they heard that Kafka Hibino had a past connection with Captain Mina Ashiro, they discussed it so fervently that they overheated and passed out.
Later that night, a kaiju appeared, marking the start of their first mission. Aoi and Haruichi quickly demonstrated their remarkable abilities in the field to their platoon leader, Nakanoshima. Together, they prepared to defeat all the Yoju following the death of the Honju.
A few days later, Aoi and his peers participated in a kendo training session at the Tachikawa base, observed by Metro TV journalists. During the session, Aoi decided to challenge Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina, a sword specialist. Despite his defeat, Aoi thanked Soshiro and declared he would work harder under his guidance, praising and acknowledging Soshiro's exceptional skills.
Tachikawa Base Raid Arc
During the raid, Aoi, Haruichi Izumo, and Ryo Ikaruga fought the Wyvern-type kaiju under Kafka Hibino's instructions. Just as Aoi and Izumo were about to kill a kaiju, they were saved by Kikoru Shinomiya's surprise axe attack. Aoi then witnessed Kafka transform into Kaiju No. 8 to save everyone from a Yoju bomb.
Captured Kaiju No. 8 Arc
When Kafka Hibino was captured and taken away, Aoi and the others were offered positions in another division since the Tachikawa base was largely destroyed. After Leno Ichikawa decided to accept the offer, Aoi followed, hoping to grow stronger.
At some point, Aoi and Haruichi Izumo were transferred to the second division.
Kaiju Weapons Arc
After the death of General Director Isao Shinomiya at the hands of Kaiju No. 9, Aoi and Haruichi Izumo paid tribute to him along with the rest of their division.
Compatible User Arc
Sometime after the Tachikawa base attack, Aoi sent a text message to Kafka Hibino to check on him.
Months later, Aoi and Haruichi Izumo learned that Leno Ichikawa had become the first person in history to synchronise with Kaiju Weapon No. 6.
Final Wave Arc
At the height of the cataclysms caused by No. 9 across Japan, Aoi and Haruichi Izumo appeared in the Kasumigaseki region to fight against the third wave. While Haruichi struck with his bow, Aoi announced their entry as new members of the third division.
Powers and abilities
General Abilities: Aoi was a rising star within the JGSDF, where he was recognised as a promising Defence Force officer. He is physically very strong, having ranked first in the physical fitness test. On the battlefield, Aoi can effortlessly support his peers in their fights against kaiju.

Unleashed Combat Power: Aoi initially demonstrated the ability to release 15% of his combat suit's power. After firearms training, he improved, reaching a 25% power release.

Combat Suit: On the battlefield, Aoi wears the standard Defence Force combat suit.
Respiratory Mask: Aoi equips himself with a respiratory mask.
Rifle: Aoi utilises a rifle in combat.
Pile Driver: After training with the Second Division, Aoi acquired a pile driver, designated PB-3115, provided by Izumo Tech.
